Living with a new kitchen: the first months

The day the dust sheets leave is not the end of the design. It is the start of learning the room with your hands.

Week one: finding the new normal

Expect a short period where the old habits fight the new layout. The mugs will not be where they used to be. That is fine. A good plan becomes muscle memory within a fortnight if the logic matches how you cook.

We leave you with a simple orientation: where the deep drawers are, how the tall units open, what to avoid cleaning with. No lecture. Just enough to settle in.

The test that matters

A kitchen succeeds when two people can move without saying sorry every thirty seconds. When the bin is where the peelings fall. When morning coffee does not need a full reorganisation of the worktop. Those are experience metrics, not brochure lines.

If something feels off after a few weeks, say so. Small adjustments in how you use the room, or a later tweak in hardware, can finish the story.

Why we obsess over millimetres

People think millimetres are vanity. They are comfort. A drawer that clears a skirting. A run that sits true against a wall that was never square. Those details are what you stop noticing, which is exactly the point. The room should disappear into your life.

That is the experience we design for across Dublin, Kildare and Meath: a kitchen that feels inevitable once you live in it.
